Climbers plants are defined as those plants using vertical space, whether it be to hide unsightly objects, e.g.old shed or simply to grow up walls and fences to give added dimension and greenery to gardens, especially those with limited space.

Bougainvillea Scarlet O'Hara

A vigorous climber for full  sun growing to 5 mtrs.     Rich scarlet red flowers.

 

 

Bougainvillea Mary  Palmer

A striking deep pink variety with reaching growth to 4 mtrs. Likes a warm full sun position.

 

 

Bougainvillea Dwarf

Available in several colours including red, orange, purple, mauve, white, apricot & pinks. Ideal for pots on balconies in adverse summer sun conditions.

 

Dipladenia Scarlet Pimpernel

A non vigorous climber, best suited as a clipped shrub for balcony pots. In most conditions. Flowers all year.

A constant flowering non vigorous climber suitable for pots. Very hardy.

 

 

 

Jasminum Polyanthum

(Common Jasmine)

Vigorous climber for all positions, sweet scented flowers in Winter/Spring.   Ideal for back fence or dead tree stump.

 

Ficus Pumila

A self clinging small leaf evergreen climber. Often used to hide ugly walls & fences. Recommended for rendered walls only.

 

Gelsemium Sempervirens

Also known as Caroline Jasmine. A striking yellow flowering evergreen growing to 4 mtrs. Needs half day sun minimum.

 

Hardenbergia Happy Duo

A combination of purple & white flowers growing to a height of 3 mtrs. Will tolerate some shade.

 

Mandevilla Alice Du  Pont

Large pink trumpet flowers against evergreen foliage. Requires a warm position. Growth to 5 mtrs. Summer flowering.

 

 

Pandorea Lady Di

A popular climber for semi-shade to full sun. White trumpet flowers Spring/Summer. Very hardy drought tolerant, pest free.

Growth to 5 mtrs.

 

Pandorea Pandorana

Flowers 5 months, pale pink with deep pink throat. Evergreen fast growing suitable for all conditions. Growth to 6 mtrs.

 

 

Pyrostegia Orange Trumpet Vine

Ideal over that old garden shed. Brilliant showers of orange trumpet flowers throughout Winter when leaves have fallen.

 

Stephanotis Floribunda

Beautifully perfumed trumpet like leaves with strong leader growth. Best suitable for half day sun.

 

 

Wisteria Floribunda Blue

Showers of trailing blue flowers late Winter/Spring. Deciduous floiage. Strong growth to 10 mtrs. Ideal for trellis landscaping. Avoid positioning near storm water or foundations.

 

Climbers are often used for softening structures like arches, posts (see below), pergolas and terraces. some may add fragrance, spectacular flowers, lush foliage or used simply to create shade for an outdoor entertaining area.

Trachlespernum (Chinese Star Jasmine) used to soften support posts.

 

Parthenocissus tricuspidata-ideal for covering walls to 15mtrs in height

turning red/burgundy in Autumn. Tiny yellowish flowers.

Suggested as the best & most popular attractive evergreen . Shiny foliage with small perfumed flowers. Drought tolerant.
