Useful Tips & Hints for
Grasses
Mass or group plantings of one selection of grass appears
more impressive than different grasses thrown in together.
For example:
-
Long drifts of Mondo grass or blue Festuca as a border.
-
Red
New Zealand Flax in large group plantings, highlighted
with stands of red Cordylines.
-
Liriope in triangular plantings
masses around large trees or contrasting against grey foliage
like Westringia.
-
Carex, Iris and Pampus clustered in groups
around water features and ponds.
Most grasses need little attention and as a whole they are
drought resistant and tolerate poor soils. However, most require
full sun and a yearly dose of Blood & Bone to retain optimum
growth.
