Garden Tips

SUMMER TIPS
* Roses: Always water roses heavily and deeply rather than lightly and frequently . A thick mulch of organic matter such as Lucern or sugar cane mulch will help keep roots cool and retain moisture. Remove dead flowers and always cut flowers above a bud which will grow in the right direction. That is do not cut stems which will grow back to cross over other branches . Your roses will then reward you with more beautiful blooms.

* Fruiting trees: Spray for fruit fly-apple, apricot, cherry, nectarine and peach. Spray for mildew on grapes.

* Mulching with Sugar Cane / Tea-Tree / Lucerne / Pea Straw or 10mm Pine Bark mulch will help the soil to retain moisture and inhibit weed growth.
